Biography
Saghar Khadem is a classically trained percussionist from Iran, known for her mastery of the Tombak. Born into an artistic family, she began learning Tombak at a young age under the guidance of her great-grandmother.
She later studied with renowned masters Elham Farshchian and Pedram Khavarzamini, and expanded her musical practice to include other Iranian frame drums such as daf and dayereh.
She pursued formal studies at the cultural and artistic institute of Tehran Conservatory and later at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she explored a broader rhythmic landscape including Oriental and Latin traditions.
Her playing is characterized by sensitivity, precision, and deep respect for the roots of Persian music, while also embracing contemporary expression and cross-cultural dialogue.
